1. Lizzie Creek Cabin—Stein/Nahatlatch
The B.C. Mountaineering Club has applied for tenure to a parcel of Crown Land in Lizzie Creek to build a 12-person backcountry hut. The approval process is held up as the province does not consider non-commercial Crown land tenures to be a provincial priority in 2025. The cabin is also located within a recently declared Indigenous protected and conserved area for the Stein/Nahatlatch.
2. Sigurd Creek footbridge replacement—Tantalus Park
The B.C. Mountaineering Club is working with BC Parks to replace the footbridge over Sigurd Creek that was swept away when it is theorized an avalanche-caused ice dam broke upstream. The club needs an archeological assessment before it can proceed. As of fall 2025, we are working to remove roadblocks to the project.
