1. Watersprite trail extension, tent area to east col towards Crawford
The B.C. Mountaineering Club has approached Recreation Sites and Trails BC for approval to build a trail from Watersprite Lake to the col with Crawford Creek. A trail needs to be marked prior to approval.
2. Lizzie Creek Cabin
The B.C. Mountaineering Club has applied for tenure to a parcel of Crown Land in Lizzie Creek to build a 12-person backcountry hut. The approval process is not expected to complete until after 2025 due to delays in processing Crown land tenures in the province.
3. Sigurd Creek footbridge replacement—Tantalus Park
The B.C. Mountaineering Club is working with BC Parks to replace the footbridge over Sigurd Creek that was swept away when it is theorized an avalanche-caused ice dam broke upstream. The club is awaiting an archeological assessment being conducted by BC Parks in the summer of 2024 before it can proceed with final engineering, funding and prefabrication. If all goes well, construction is planned for the summer of 2025.
